Forecasters are confident that a mix of rain and snow in the Sheboygan area today is unlikely to be much of a problem considering what late-December storms could do. Lake Michigan kept things too warm for snow when precipitation moved in during the pre-dawn hours, but inland areas west of Sheboygan County were experiencing slippery stretches on many roads. Some isolated areas such as Baraboo, Wisconsin Rapids and Stevens Point, even had ice-covered roads for a time early Thursday, and untreated roads were the most susceptible to icing.
Temperatures won’t warm much, but the worst conditions are expected to be short-lived this morning, with temperatures reaching close to 40 degrees much of the day. Whatever does fall should stay wet, but raw, driven on cold, gusty northerly winds.
