Daniel G. Doedens, 88, of Cedar Grove, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at his home surrounded by the love of his family.
Dan was born to Berend and Jeannette (Basting) Doedens on June 18, 1935, in Milwaukee. For 30 years, Dan was a social worker for the State of Wisconsin, helping numerous individuals with his insight. On January 20, 1962, Dan married Carolyn (Herber) Doedens. A few years later, they purchased their “dream home” and have lived there ever since. In retirement, Dan and Carolyn organized the restoration and preservation of Car 26 which is now located at the East Troy Railroad Museum. Dan loved Car 26, its history, and the connection to his family.
Dan enjoyed model trains and railroads, seeing the big ships on Lake Michigan, and spending time with his wife and family. He was a kind and generous man, who would always give his time and resources to those in need.
Dan is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn; daughter, Bethany (David) Morris of Plymouth; son, Matt (Kristen) Doedens of West Bend; grandchildren, Rachel and Jeanette Morris, Noah, Maya, and Sara Doedens; sister-in-law, Corinne Doedens; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rev. Dr. Paul Doedens; and sister, Ruth (Bill) Daniels.
At Dan’s request, a small fellowship gathering to support the family will be held at a later date.
In memory of Dan, memorials to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice or Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin would be appreciated.

Dan was a good man and I had some problems that he was instrumental in getting me through. I have always respected Dan and his real care about people. I would like to express my condolences to his family and friends. I will always remember Dan, met him in 1974.
