PITTSBURGH, PA (WHBL) – Brandon Woodruff and three relievers held the Pirates to one hit in a 3-0 Brewers’ victory in Pittsburgh on Wednesday night. Woodruff struck out 10, walked one and gave up one hit – a swinging bunt single to Phillip Evans, the second batter he faced. He left the game with one out in the seventh.
Ben Gamel and Keston Hiura homered for Milwaukee.
Pirates starter Joe Musgrove yielded three runs on four hits, including both homers, and struck out eight in five-plus innings. Josh Bell and Jacob Stallings each struck out three times in a combined six at-bats.
The win gave the Brewers a 2-1 series win.
Thursday is an off day for the Crew. They’ll resume play Friday afternoon, welcoming the St. Louis Cardinals to Miller Park for a weekend series.
