The Packers got their rest and we’ll see if they’ll recover from a tough loss Monday night in New York in time to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a game with playoff implications at Lambeau Field this Sunday.
Head Coach Matt LaFleur gave the players Tuesday off and didn’t have them come back to work until Wednesday afternoon for the game plan installation and light, walk-through practice.
The Packers still listed 14 players on the estimated injury report. Five would not have participated if it would have been an actual practice. Christian Watson is still working through his latest hamstring pull, Quay Walker missed a second straight game Monday night with a shoulder injury, Darnell Savage (shoulder), A.J. Dillon (thumb) and Dontayvion Wicks (ankle) were the others give the day off. The team got good news on rookie receiver Jayden Reed. He’s not in the concussion protocol after getting dinged up on the ill-fated two point conversion run against the Giants but he was still among the limited participants with an ankle injury that he said after practice wasn’t going to be an issue this weekend. Jaire Alexander and Aaron Jones were also listed as limited. Jones is close to coming back from and MCL sprain and Alexander, who has practiced each of the last two weeks, still hasn’t been good enough to play since suffering a shoulder injury against the Rams in November. Other limited players were Elgton Jenkins (shoulder), Kingsley Enegbare (toe), Keiseasn Nixon (quad), Jonathan Owens (knee) and T.J. Slaton (quad). Defensive back Eric Stokes was listed as a full participant, an encouraging sign for him as he’s close to getting back onto the active roster from the injured reserve list. Stokes pulled a hamstring just four plays into his season that began in Denver and opening the year on the Physically Unable to Perform list following last year’s ankle and knee surgeries.
