SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Pets are good for people and improve the quality of life, but is the City of Sheboygan a pet-friendly city? Mayor Mike Vandersteen pondered that question after attending the U-S Conference of Mayors this past March, and directed the formation of a task group to get the answer.
That group meets at noon today to elect the Task Group Chairperson and Secretary, and to review the playbook for pet-friendly cities. That playbook has a 12-point survey that will assess pet-related strengths and needs in Sheboygan and provides a guide to improving pet ownership.
The goal is to make Sheboygan as pet-friendly as possible and to gain certification as the first pet-friendly city in Wisconsin. You can learn more about the program by visiting bettercitiesforpets.com.
