SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Another 23 positive test returns for COVID-19 were registered by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health on Friday, raising the county total to 476 confirmed cases. Of the 119 cases currently active, 3 require hospital care. With 18 recoveries, the active case count was up by 5 since Thursday. 855 negative test results were received in the last 24–hours, yielding a 2.6% positive return rate here. 85 new cases have been recorded here so far this week, almost 18% of all cases so far.
Wisconsin reached a new high number of tests received in a 24-hour period, with 17,501 results recorded by the State DHS. 1,018 of those were positive, resulting in a 5.8% positive return percentage and a state total of 46,917. This marks the third time – all within the last week – that Wisconsin recorded over 1,000 new cases in a single day. 54 more hospital beds were occupied by COVID-19 patients since Thursday Of the 312 persons hospitalized, 247 – nearly 80% – were on ventilators. No deaths were recorded in Wisconsin in the last 24-hours.
In Friday’s update from the County Division of Public Health, the county’s “Mask Up Sheboygan” campaign was included for the first time. The campaign requests residents to “Do your part to slow the spread.” by wearing a face mask. The campaign also encourages interested persons to engage in a social media campaign to promote the concept of always wearing a mask in public, and made available a poster that could be used to encourage others to “mask up, Sheboygan.” The poster and other information is available here:
Also with Friday’s update, the Sheboygan County Safe Restart Plan’s weekly assessment of benchmark criteria was announced. For at least the next week, we will remain in Phase Two of the plan, just as it has been for the past three weeks.
