Audrey M. Fuhrmann, 89, of Sheboygan, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.
Audrey was born on September 9, 1934, to Leon and Ida (Fritz) Carpenter in Campbellsport. She graduated from Campbellsport High School and went on to St. Agnes School of Nursing, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 1955. On January 7, 1956, Audrey was united in marriage to Merle Fuhrmann at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Campbellsport. She was a nurse at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac and St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan for 25 years. Audrey went on to work for Community Home Health Hospice in the Medical-Surgical and Oncology Department for 3 years.
Audrey was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls. She loved reading, playing cards, visiting with her friends, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Audrey is survived by her four daughters, Joan (Kevin) Zimmerman of West Bend, Judy (Art) Clay-Fernandez of McKinney, TX, Jean (Rich) Lockwood of Cudahy, and Jennifer Fuhrmann of Allen, TX; four sons, Joe (Kathy) Fuhrmann of Beaver Dam, WI, John (Betsy) of New Berlin, Jeff (special friend Bonnie) Fuhrmann of Howards Grove, and Jim (Kris) Fuhrmann of Howard; 12 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 8 step great-grandchildren; and 1 step great-great-grandchild. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law, Ruth Carpenter of New London and Darleen Capenter of Topeka, KS; special aunt, Alice Carpenter; a dear foreign exchange daughter, Tammy Chan of Hong Kong; nieces, nephew, other relatives, and friends.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Merle; parents; parents-in-law; son-in-law, Larry Clay; brothers, Leon Max Carpenter and Lamont Carpenter; and special uncle, Lee Carpenter.
A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Audrey’s life will be held at Blessed Trinity Parish on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 3:00pm. A burial will be held at St. Charles Cemetery in Fond du Lac.
Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday at church from 1:00pm until the time of mass at 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Audrey’s name for Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
