James W. Selke, 77, of Sheboygan, passed away Wednesday morning, September 20, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born May 25, 1946 in Sheboygan, James was a son of the late William and Frieda Niesing Selke. He attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1965. On July 1, 1967, he was united in marriage to Barbara J. Petersohn at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church.
Jim worked in the engine department of the Kohler Company for 42 years before his retirement in 2010. He was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling and playing sheepshead. He was an avid sports fan and cheered for the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. He also served as a Union Steward.
Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara; his children, Todd (Bonita) Selke, Plano, TX, Michael (Diane) Selke, Muskego, WI and Brian (Crystal) Selke, Tampa, FL; seven grandchildren, Bryce Selke, Richmond, VA, Miranda Selke, Newport News, VA, Matthew, Samantha and Grace Selke, all of Muskego, Caleb Lusby, Addison, TX, and Callie Lusby, Plano, TX; his sister, Shirley Wierzbach, Carol Stream, IL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Frieda.
A memorial service for James will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 1810 N. 13th Street, Sheboygan. Family and friends are welcome at the church at the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
The family would like to thank nurses Tracy and Jen and the nurses and staff of the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, especially Jayne, for all of their loving care and support.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Jim’s arrangements.
