Dolores N. Voight, 96, of Sheboygan, passed away Friday morning, September 15, 2023 at her home surrounded by family.
Born September 28, 1926 in Sheboygan, Dolores was a daughter of the late Otto and Lillian Sonnemann Kurtz. She attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Sheboygan North High School. On November 7, 1964, she married Walter B. Voight at St. John UCC in Sheboygan. They were married for 44 years before Walter preceded her in death on August 2, 2009.
Dolores worked for the Jung Shoe Company until her retirement in 1989. She previously worked for the Asgrow Seed Company. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ. She was also an active member of the VFW Post 9156 Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed needlework, knitting, crocheting and embroidery. She loved going up north to the cabin in Florence County. She was an avid reader and spent time miniature bowling, playing Yahtzee and going out for fish frys. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Diane Greger, Dennis Kurtz, Raymond (Rebecca) Voight, James (Barbara) Voight, Bonnie (Robert) Fenn, Steven (Julie) Voight, Jerry (Denise Groth) Voight, Mary Voight, Debbie Cesar and Jeff (Peggy) Voight; her great nephew, Daniel IInovski; her cousin, Darlene (Charlie) Heusterberg; her sisters-in-law, Linda and Doris Voight; other extended family and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by her brother, Otto Kurtz, Jr. and a niece, Barbara (Michael) Thiel; and her brothers-in-law, Robert Voight and Leland Voight.
The family would like to give special thanks to Linda Voight for all she did to make her last year of life wonderful as well as the nurses and staff of the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
A Celebration of Life for Dolores will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at St. John UCC, 13th & Lincoln Avenue. The Rev. Judine Duerwachter will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place in the Chapel of Eternal Light of Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Dolores’ arrangements.
