SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Sheboygan County experienced 20 recoveries amid 5 new confirmed COVID-19 cases reported to the County Division of Health Services since Monday’s update, taking our active case load to 112. 116 persons tested negative since Monday, yielding a 4% positive return rate. Two persons are currently hospitalized in Sheboygan County, where we’ve had 423 confirmed cases of the disease, and 5 deaths as a result.
When broken down by age group, 155 of the county cases were experienced in those 20-39 years old. The second most affected segment is those between ages of 40 and 59, where 119 cases have been logged. 68 occurred to those 19 and under, 65 to those 60-79, and 16 cases affected persons 80 or older.
Wisconsin, for the first time, logged over one-thousand new cases in a single day, with 1,117 positive returns vs. 13,371 negative test results. That’s a 7.7% positive return rate. Wisconsin has now recorded a total of 44,135 cases of COVID-19, and 859 deaths – an increase of 13 since Monday. 354 persons in the state currently require hospitalization for their illness, 101 of those in the ICU. 303 persons are receiving mechanical ventilation, requiring about 1/4 of all ventilators available. Another 190 persons are hospitalized with results of their COVID-19 test yet to be received. Right now, 22% of hospital beds are available to treat patients.
