Ruth M. Adamavich, 95, of Sheboygan, passed away early Friday morning, September 8, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Born March 26, 1928, in Sheboygan Falls, Ruth was a daughter of the late Richard and Jennie Wibben Friedrichs. She attended Sheboygan Falls grade school and high school. On December 22, 1945, she was united in marriage to Frank L. Adamavich at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond, LA. They were married for 57 years before Frank preceded her in death on August 11, 2003.
Ruth was a teacher’s aide at Washington School for many years until her retirement. She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and belonged to the St. Anne’s Society and the Catholic Women’s Charity Club. She also taught religious education for many years. She was a talented musician who loved to sing and play the piano and harmonica and also enjoyed cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers.
She is survived by her children, Kate (Wendell Wojner) Munns, Madison; Daniel Adamavich, Costa Rica; Carol (Scott) Duehring, Sheboygan, and Maryellen (Barry Vredenbregt) Adamavich, Madison; 11 grandchildren; Amanda (Eric) Hildebrand; Ann (Taffy) Barns; Zachary (Erin), Matthew and Johannah Munns; Frank (Chelsea) Adamavich; Benjamin (Desiree) Adamavich; Julie (Steve) Manolis, Rachael Adamavich, and Ezekiel and Leah Vredenbregt; numerous great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her faithful canine companion, Lucy. Besides her parents and husband Frank, she was preceded in death by two sons, Greg and Richard; and her brother and sister, Bud and Annabelle.
Ruth loved spending time with her family, being part of their celebrations and writing personalized poems and creative song parodies to honor the recipients on special occasions. Never one to refuse tasty food or conversation, she delighted in having a microphone so she could share her stories and words of wisdom with everyone or lead them in song. In later years her daughters honored her by taking on some of those roles she held dear.
For the last five years she was so blessed to live with Carol and Scott who tirelessly took care of her every physical, personal, social, and entertainment need with love, respect, and grace.
Ruth was a devout Catholic who attended weekly Mass, read the works of Christian authors, prayed daily and always tried to live her faith in words and actions.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Ruth at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 818 Huron Avenue, Sheboygan. Fr. Norberto Sandivol will celebrate the Mass. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Internment will take place in Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.
