BRONX, NY (WHBL) – The New York Yankees needed extra innings to salvage their series finale against the Brewers on Sunday.
New York topped Milwaukee 4-3 in 13 innings at Yankee Stadium. Anthony Misiewicz earned the victory after pitching a scoreless inning of relief while Giancarlo Stanton slugged a two-run shot in the bottom of the 12th for his 23rd home run of the season.
Milwaukee’s Hoby Milner was tagged with the loss after allowing an unearned run over a third of an inning of relief.
Joey Wiemer went one for one at the plate with a pinch-hit RBI double in the top of the 12th.
Milwaukee drops to 79-63 but have a three-game lead over the Cubs in the NL Central.
The Brewers head back to American Family Field to begin a four-game series against Miami. Game one is Monday night with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 6:05.
