City of Sheboygan Department of Public Works
Sheboygan DPW crews will be going into high gear on street repairs, and with six projects at once motorists are likely going to run into roadblocks for a while. The majority will require detours for several months, many through October, while the shortest will take until the end of August. Residents are being advised, though, that weather can impact schedules, so project completion dates may change.
The streets involved consist of portions of Mayflower Avenue, North 27th Place, Lincoln Avenue, North 5th Street and Highland Terrace, Martin Avenue and North 20th Street. The following is a complete list with maps.
Mayflower Avenue
Construction work on Mayflower Avenue (North 8th Street to North 10th Street; and North 13th Street to North 15th Street) will begin on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. The closure is necessary to complete a street resurfacing project that includes the removalof the existing asphalt pavement, storm sewer repairs, sanitary sewer repairs, and replacement of the asphalt pavement. Those sections will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project. The street closure is anticipated to be in place through September 2023.
North 5th Street/Highland Terrace
Construction on North 5th Street/Highland Terrace (North Avenue to North 6th Street) will begin on Wednesday August 2nd, 2023. This closure is necessary to complete a resurfacing project. That section of the street will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of August.
North 27th Place
Construction on North 27th Place (Saemann Avenue to North 28th Street) will begin on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. This closure is necessary for a street resurfacing project that will include milling the concrete pavement, various manhole adjustments, and asphalt paving of the street surface. The closure is planned to last for the duration of the project, which is expected to be complete by the end of September 2023.
Martin Avenue
Construction work on Martin Avenue (North 18th Street to North 20th Street) will begin on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. This closure is necessary to complete a street resurfacing project that includes the removal of the existing asphalt pavement and replacement with new asphalt pavement. That section will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project. The work is scheduled to be completed in October 2023.
Lincoln Avenue
Construction work on Lincoln Avenue (North 8th Street to North 10th Street; and North 12th Street to North 15th Street) will begin on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. The closures are necessary to complete a street resurfacing project which includes removal of the existing asphalt surface and replacement with new asphalt pavement. Those portions will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project. The work is scheduled to be completed in October.
North 20th Street
Construction work on North 20th Street (Superior Avenue to Cleveland Avenue) will begin on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. The closure is necessary to complete a street resurfacing project that includes the removal of the existing asphalt pavement, storm sewer repairs, sanitary sewer repairs, and replacement of the asphalt pavement. The street will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project, and the closure is anticipated to be in place through October.
