(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 22, 2019 – Brian Wieland of Sheboygan Falls has made some great strides in his rookie campaign behind the wheel of a B Mod in Plymouth Dirt Track Racing competition at The Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth this season.
However, Wieland’s accomplishments on the track are just a small part of what his season-long “Racing For Recovery” efforts are doing to help those in need of assistance in breaking free from the chains of alcohol and drug addiction in Sheboygan County.
“At the end of the season I will be donating all of my racing winnings to Samaritan’s Hand, which is a drug and alcohol clinic and sober house in Sheboygan County,” Wieland said. “I am currently in my fifth year of recovery and I want to continue to support healing in our community. I figure what better way to get the word out and give support than ‘Racing for Recovery?’”
The Plymouth native has always had an attraction to racing and with his personal life now on the right track he is aiming to make some noise on the local dirt-track racing scene.
“I absolutely love all forms of racing and have been to several races and tracks in North America, including Formula One, NASCAR, IndyCar, IMSA and the list goes on,” Wieland said. “It has been my dream since I was very young to race.”
After gaining some limiting experience in go-karts as a youngster, Wieland decided to step up his game into the Plymouth Dirt Track Racing B Mod ranks this season.
“I started the season with no previous dirt track experience,” Wieland said. “I raced go-karts when I was 12 for one season and have done some on-track activities at Road America. This is my true rookie year and I picked the B Mod division to get some quality seat time. So far this year, I’ve raced at Plymouth, Gravity Park in Chilton and 141 Speedway.”
Wieland, who is employed as the used car director at Van Horn Automotive Group in Plymouth, has enjoyed a very successful season in the highly competitive PDTR B Mod division, which has been highlighted by a second-place showing in the B Mod A main at The Plymouth Dirt Track on July 13.
Wieland is currently in line for the PDTR B Mod Rookie of the Year Award as he currently sits 10th in the point stands with two points nights remaining in the 2019 PDTR season.
“My main goal this year has been to raise $5,000 dollars for Samaritan’s Hand,” Wieland said. “From a racing perspective, my goal has been to be competitive, race clean, develop relationships in the pits and learn a ton.”
Sponsors for Wieland’s Wheels Racing team include Van Horn Automotive Group, Samaritan’s Hand, LA Auto, Bank First National, Drake Dairy Inc, Wisconsin State Auto Auction, Kelly Moss Road and Race, VICCI Auctions, Platinum Restoration Services, LLC, Doug’s Auto, CLA (Clifton Larson Allen), New Vision Graphics and KDT, Inc.
Wieland’s pit crew members are Cole Fenske, Tim Fenske and Chad Schmidt.
