Drought continues plaguing Wisconsin, and Sheboygan County is no exception. A moderate drought continues here, and only around 20 percent of the state is experiencing a lesser “abnormally dry” situation. A severe drought controls nearly 17 percent of Wisconsin, both in the southwest and extreme northwest sections.
Since the beginning of April, all but extreme western Sheboygan County has fallen over 4-1/2 inches short of normal precipitation, though the last 7 days did see between a half and one inch of rain. And although it will take plentiful moisture to make up for the shortfall, the 7-14 day outlook is showing the potential for at least some relief with a possible 1/2-1” of precipitation forecast.
For the time being households will need to continue watering gardens and yards, while farmers can only hope and pray for relief or use irrigation if available.
