Carol E. Hesler, 93, of Sheboygan, passed away on Thursday,
February 8, 2018 at Golden Harbor Assisted Living. Carol was born February 16, 1924 to Andrew
and Dorothy (Barteck) Scherer. She graduated from Central High School in 1942
and enrolled in an infant nursing course at Michael Reese Hospital in
Chicago. Just before graduating, she met
Zach Hesler of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, who was working at a Chicago printing
press. Exactly one year after the day
they met, they were married January 20, 1945, in Sheboygan. Their first son David, was born in Chicago
March 2, 1947, but shortly after that the family moved back to Sheboygan. Daughter, Linda was born June 28, 1949 and
son Richard, February 5, 1952. Carol
kept busy raising the three children.
She had a strong faith in Jesus and was an active lifelong member of
Fountain Park United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School, a member of the
Women’s Society, and continuing to learn in Adult Sunday School classes. Carol was a charter member of the Maplette
homemakers for over 60 years. She
maintained friendships with all the members as their children were growing up
together and even after they were grown.
Carol also worked for the Red Cross blood bank for several years.
Carol is survived by: son Richard (Carol ) Hesler of
Menomonee Falls, grandchildren: Darren (Shanna) Hesler, John (Shelley) Hesler,
Rachel (Jacquinot) Robinson, Amy Hesler, Andrew Koller, Deborah (Nick) Berenz,
Rebecca (Collen) Keckeisen, and 10 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Opal
(Harold) Hesler. Also by many dear
cousins and friends. She was preceded in
death by her parents, spouse Zach, son David, and daughters, Andrea and Linda.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018
at 12:00 NOON at Fountain Park United Methodist Church, 828 Erie Ave.,
Sheboygan, with Pastor Warren Waddell officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the
family on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 11:00 AM until the time of service at
the CHURCH.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fountain Park
United Methodist Church in Carol’s name.
