Paul W. Debbink, 91, Sheboygan Falls, passed away into the presence of his Lord
and Savior on Monday, February 12, 2018 after a brief illness at the Sheboygan
Aurora Medical Center. He was a recent resident of Pine Haven Christian Communities.
He previously lived in Sheboygan Falls.
He was born on February 17, 1926 in the Town of Lima in
Sheboygan Co. to Henry and Mabel (Meerdink) Debbink. He attended local schools,
was drafted into the US Army in 1944, and served in the European Theater during
World War II. After the war and
returning home, he worked various jobs and ultimately spent 35 years working for
Richardson Bros. Furniture Co., making chairs and dining room furniture. He
married the former Carol J. Pietenpol on September 15, 1950 at her parents’ home
in the Town of Lima.
He was a member of First Reformed Church Sheboygan Falls where
he served as an elder and deacon; and was also a 4-H woodworking leader for
several years. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, playing cards, traveling with
Carol, and family gatherings. After
retirement he enjoyed bowling and going for coffee with the guys at the Point.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carol; daughters Mary
(Mark) Huenink of Cedar Grove and Jo Anne (Dennis) Nipple of Marinette; sons
Jon (Denise) Debbink of Waukesha and Mark (Sandy) Debbink of Sheboygan Falls,
ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a niece. He is further survived
by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a
daughter Gayle in infancy, and his sister Eleanor Wilterdink.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018
(Paul’s 92
nd
birthday) at 11am at the First Reformed Church in
Sheboygan Falls, with Rev. DuWayne Hanke officiating. Guests can greet the
family on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the church from 9am until the time of
service at 11am. He will be laid to rest in Gibbsville Cemetery.
A memorial fund is being established in Paul’s name for Pine
Haven Christian Communities, the Salvation Army, or the charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the staff of Pine Haven for
all the wonderful care they gave Paul over his last years.
