Eugene J. Kirst, of Plymouth, WI, entered eternal life on
March 19, 2018 at the age of 84.
He was born in Fredonia on February 2, 1934, son of the late
Matthew and Veronica (Gasper) Kirst.
On June 18, 1955 he married Theresa Thomas of Random Lake.
During his years in Fredonia he was active in his community
serving at the Fire Dept., as a Village Trustee, and was also an active member
of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church (now Divine Savior).
Eugene spent many years working as a service tech for Steffen’s
Plumbing & Heating in Fredonia, where he developed many friendships.
He was an avid fisherman, and in his mid-40’s he moved to
Fremont where he owned and operated Gene’s Resort fulfilling his dream. After
retiring from the resort, they moved to New London and continued to live along
the Wolf River, where he spent many more years fishing. From New London they moved back to the area,
settling in Plymouth to be near family.
He leaves behind: His wife: Theresa; Son: Roy (Linda) Kirst
of Plymouth; Daughter: Janet (Jeff) Liermann of Fredonia; Grandsons: Rev. Brian
(Abigail) Liermann of Mt. Pleasant, Dan (Kimberly) Liermann of Fredonia, and
Andrew Liermann (fiancée: Codie Richards) of Wauwatosa; Step-children: John
Buss of Plymouth, Janet Buss-Stoelb of Chilton; Brothers: George (Rita) Kirst
of Kewaskum, Robert (Mary Jane) Kirst of Kewaskum; and Sister: Helen Sanem of
Port Washington.
Eugene is further survived by: Brothers-in-law: David
(Theresa) Thomas, Harry (Marlene) Thomas, and Joseph (Annie) Thomas, all of
Random Lake; Sisters-in-law: Ruth Thomas and Diann Thomas, both of Plymouth;
Beloved dog: Katie; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
He was preceded in death by: His parents; Brother: Joe
(Hazel) Kirst; Sister: Marie (Vernon) Fay; and Three brothers-in-law: Donald,
Paul, and Carl Thomas.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday (March 24, 2018) at
12:00 Noon at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. Father Philip Reifenberg, Pastor of the
Church will officiate.
Visitation will take place at CHURCH on Saturday (March 24)
from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
A memorial fund is being established in Eugene’s name.
