Karl Herman Sasse, 95, of Sheboygan, passed away on Tuesday,
April 10, 2018 at the Sheboygan Senior Community. Karl was born February 7, 1923 in Kohler to
Herman and Mabel (Kraedemann) Sasse.
Karl attended the Kohler schools, and in January 1943 he proudly joined
the US Army.
On May 31, 1947 he was united in marriage to Betty Axel at
Zion United Church of Christ in Sheboygan.
She preceded him in death on September 9, 2006. Karl worked for Vinyl Plastics and retired in
1988.
Karl had a strong faith, he was a member of Zion Covenant
Church. He was an avid stamp
collector. Watching NASCAR, the Packers,
and the Brewers were a favorite pass time of his. You could find Karl at the Plymouth Stock Car
races on Saturday nights, not only watching, but also helping out where he
could. Karl enjoyed working jigsaw
puzzles, and when his children were younger he was very active with them in the
Sheboyganites Drum & Bugle Corp, attending every parade and drove the
equipment truck. His family was his
pride and joy, he loved watching his grandchildren creating memories.
Karl is survived by his children; Robert (Beverly) Sasse of
Sheboygan, Susan (Michael) Weinknecht of Sheboygan Falls, and Nancy (Scott)
Kushnier of Howards Grove, by his grandchildren; Lindsay (Tyler) Vitse of Grafton, Katie Sasse and Kelsey Sasse of
Sheboygan Falls, and Rachel Kushnier and Brandon Kushnier of Howards Grove, by
great-grandchildren, Leah and Madelyn Vitse, by his sister Wilma Kasten of Sheboygan, and by several nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends. He was
preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, infant brother Robert, and
brother-in-law Norm Kasten.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 at
7:00 PM at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral & Cremation Care Center, 1201 N. 8
th
St., Sheboygan with Pastor Chris McKnight officiating. Private burial will take place at Wildwood
Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, April 13,
2018 from 4:00 PM until the time of service at the FUNERAL HOME.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels
in Karl’s name.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff
at the Sheboygan Senior Community Maple Wing, Dr. Elizabeth Zurich, Pastor
Chris McKnight, and all the friends that came to visit with Karl. Your love, care, compassion, and support were
