Phyllis Joy Mueller, age 87, of Elkhart Lake, was welcomed into
the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Woodland Village,
Plymouth with family at her side.
She was born on February 10, 1931 in Loganville, WI, daughter of
the late Evelyn (Casey Swenson) Schachts and Lawrence Swenson.
In 1949, she graduated from Plymouth High School. She then
received her teaching certificate from Sheboygan County Normal School in 1951.
After teaching for a short time, she worked in Milwaukee as a bookkeeper until
her marriage.
On May 9, 1953, Phyllis married Robert Mueller at St. John
Lutheran Church in Plymouth. He preceded her in death in 2010.
She and Robert built a home and raised their family in rural
Sheboygan Falls where they were active members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
In 1985, they moved to Elkhart Lake and became faithful members of Grace
Lutheran.
Her greatest joy was loving and supporting her family. Over the
years, she also enjoyed teaching Sunday School, being a Campfire Girls leader,
and volunteering with Partners in Reading.
Her many interests included poetry, musicals, reading, nature
walks, mystery shows, camping, and trips to Northern Wisconsin.
Survivors include three children: Susan Mueller of West Bend,
Mary Mueller of Whitefish Bay, and John (Dawn) Mueller of Plymouth, and two
grandsons: Michael (Laura) Mueller of Waukesha and Shawn (Britt) Mueller of
Plymouth. She is further survived by a brother-in-law, Edward (Doris) Mueller
of South Milwaukee, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Along with her husband, Robert, she was preceded in death by her
stepfather, Edwin Schachts.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday (April 28, 2018) at
3:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church in Elkhart Lake, with the Rev. Peter Peitsch
officiating. Interment will take place in the St. Paul Evangelical Cemetery in
the Town of Herman.
Friends may call at the CHURCH on Saturday (April 28) from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.
