Marvin L. “Beaver” Cain, age 88, of
Plymouth, WI, passed away early on Monday morning (May 21, 2018) at the Atrium
Post Acute Care Center in Plymouth.
Marvin was born on July 23, 1929 in
Plymouth, WI a son of the late Leo and
Margaret (Massman) Cain.
He graduated from Plymouth High
School in 1948 and was a great athlete in many sports.
Marvin served in the National Guard
as a Sergeant with Company D,
2nd B.G. 127
th
infantry and with the Wisconsin National Guard 32 Division Company K 426
th
Infantry.
On June 6, 1953 he married Donna Mae Markwardt at St. John
Lutheran Church in Plymouth. Marvin was a long-time member of St. John Lutheran
Church and served as an Usher in the Church for many years.
Marvin worked at the Great Atlantic
and Pacific Tea Company “AP” Grocery
Store in Plymouth in the produce
department and as an assistant supervisor from 1948 until 1968. He then transferred to the Dairy Division where he
was Packaging Division Supervisor from 1968 until 1982, working a total
of 35 years for the company.
In 1983, he became an Insurance Agent
for Rural Mutual Insurance in Plymouth for 14 years retiring in 1997. He
greatly enjoyed working with people and helping
them meet their insurance needs and many times their personal needs as well.
Marvin was also very civically minded and enjoyed serving
as an Auxiliary Policeman in the City for many years and on the Plymouth City
Council from April of 2004 until April of 2008. Marvin was a member of the
Sheboygan County Farm Bureau since 1956 and was a former member of the Plymouth
Rotary Club and Plymouth Triad.
Marvin was an avid sportsman and love
to hunt, fish and camp. In his younger years, he enjoyed skiing all over the
United States and was an accomplished ski jumper. He was one of the founders of
Nutt Ski Hill in Plymouth where he served as a Ski Instructor.
He is survived by his wife: Donna Mae
of Plymouth; Son: Scott (Tina) Cain; Daughters: Debra (Keith) Abraham and
Julie(Greg) Moeller; Grandchildren: Amanda Abraham, Karrie Abraham and Kimberly
(Jerimiah) Husko; Sara (Matt) Stiller, Brett (Stephanie) Schaefer and Hannah
Mae Schaefer; Great grandchildren: Micah, Amara and Ariella Husko, Micah and
Bailey Stiller and a special nephew Andy (Debbie) Andrews. He is also survived
by other relatives and friends.
Marvin was preceded in death by: His
parents: Leo and Margaret Cain; Sister: Eunice Primm; Parents-in-Law: Byron and
Arleen Markwardt; and Brother-in-law: Kenneth Markwardt.
Funeral services will be held on
Friday Afternoon (May 25, 2018) at 1:00 P.M. at St. John Lutheran Church in
Plymouth. Rev. Nathan Meador, Pastor of the Church will officiate. A
gathering of friends and family will be held in the school cafeteria immediately
following the service. Burial will be in the Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the CHURCH
on Friday morning (May 25) from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are
suggested in Marvin’s name to St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth.
