Judith M. Huibregtse, 70, of Hingham peacefully went to heaven on Monday
afternoon, May 28, 2018 while at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice
Center.
Judy was born on November 7, 1947 in Sheboygan, the daughter of Wesley and
Marion “Mary” (Hopeman) Dirkse. Judy was a 1965 graduate of Oostburg High
School. Judy then went on to study at Hope College, Wisconsin State
University-Eau Claire and studied for her master degree in Speech Therapy from
UW Milwaukee. On December 19, 1969 she married Barry Huibregtse in Hingham.
Judy was a devoted homemaker, speech therapist at several local schools, and
bookkeeper for their family business, Dirkse and Huibregtse Inc.
Judy was a lifelong member at Hingham Reformed Church where she was active
as a Bible Class teacher, former organist, and the Women’s Circle. She enjoyed
art fairs, shopping, traveling, music and spending time with her grandsons and
other family.
Judy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Barry; one son, Damon (Michelle)
Huibregtse; three grandsons, Elias Wesley, Zander Barry, and Ryker Steven
Huibregtse, all of Hingham; one sister, Norine (Rev. Tom) Katsma of Boise,
Idaho; one brother, Rodney (Sherry) Dirkse of Hingham; three sisters-in-law,
Beverly (Wayne) Hilbelink of Delavan, Jan (Wayne) Mentink of Kiel, and Lynn
(Wayne) Brasser of Hingham; nieces and nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Dean Dirkse; and a
brother-in-law, Rodney Huibregtse.
A funeral to celebrate Judy’s life will take place at the Hingham Reformed
Church on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 2 pm with Revs. Steve Bakker and Tom Katsma
officiating. Burial will take place at the Hingham Cemetery.
Family and friends will gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on
Friday from 4-8 pm, and on Saturday, at church, from 1 pm until the time of
service at 2 pm.

A memorial fund is being established in her name for the Sharon S.
Richardson Community Hospice.
