Eugene “Gene” A. Smith, Mr. Volkswagen, born November 14, 1931, was taken home to his Father on June 26, 2018.
Jesus has taken Gene home to be with our Heavenly Father. Our Lord has given me the time beforehand to thank and praise Him for His Son, Jesus, and His sacrifice for all my sins. “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.” Acts 16:31
Eugene was preceded in death by his father, Alfred F. Smith; his mother, Helen W. (Kolb) Smith; brothers, Eldon Smith and Robert Smith; and sister, Delores (Smith) Milauskas.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Hoffmann Smith; sister Adeline Schmidt; his sons, Kerry (Mary) Smith, Ed (Nicole) Smith, Andrew (Barb) Smith, Scott (Laurie) Smith and Patrick Smith; grandchildren, Jessica Allen, Amanda Smith, Justin Smith, Aaron Smith, Rebecca Smith, Raina Smith, Jordan Smith, and Christen Smith; great grandchildren, Kimberley Allen, Emily Allen, Brody Zehner, Jude Smith, and Charlie Noel.
Eugene was a member of the U.S. Army and served his country during the Korean War.
A celebration service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church,
3027 Wilgus Avenue, Sheboygan
. Sharing memories about Gene will take place from noon until the time of service. Inurnment will take place in the Chapel of Eternal Light of Greenlawn Memorial Park with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial would be appreciated to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
