Roberta
M. “Bobbie” Becher passed away on July
22, 2018 at the age of 94, at the Waterford in Plymouth.
She was born on March 24,
1924 in the Town of Sheboygan Falls, WI, daughter of the late John
and Elsie (Beck)
Trowbridge. As a child, Roberta attended Madison Grade School. She graduated
from Sheboygan Falls High
School in 1942.
Roberta worked for 5 years
in the electric plant office at the Kohler Company and also for 29 years
as a bookkeeper at the
Plymouth Review, where she retired in 1986.
After many years, Roberta
moved with her parents to Plymouth, WI in 1944. She married Lewis J.
Becher at on November 30
th
,
1946 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Plymouth. The couple lived Plymouth
Following their
marriage. Her loving husband preceded
her in death after 51 years of marriage on
January 24, 1998.
Roberta was a member of Salem United Church of
Christ in Plymouth, where she was a greeter, served on the finance committee,
and taught Sunday school. She was a former member of the Plymouth Women’s Club
and also spent many years volunteering at the Valley Manor Nursing Home. She loved to travel and play cards.
Survivors include: Two daughters: Mary Gebler of
Plymouth and Elizabeth “Bette” (Dr. Richard) Bertz of St. Cloud, WI; Grandson: Jeremy (Carrie) Gebler of Surprise, AZ, two
granddaughters: Heather (Joseph) Ryan of Greenville, WI and Alexa Bertz of St.
Cloud; Great-granddaughter: Emma Ryan,
and two great grandsons: Colin Gebler and Elijah Ryan. She is also survived by one
niece and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her
husband: Lewis; Brother: John Trowbridge; Sister: Evelyn Trowbridge and Infant
granddaughter Gebler.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday (July
28, 2018) at 1:00 P.M. at Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth. Rev. James
Hoppert, Pastor of the church will officiate. Cremation has taken place and
inurnment will be in the Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will take place at the CHURCH on Saturday
(July 28) from 11:00 A.M. until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being
established in Roberta’s name.
