Dolores J. Haen,
94, of Sheboygan, passed away comfortably surrounded by family on Monday
afternoon, July 23, 2018, at Countryside Manor in Sheboygan, where she had been
a resident for the last month.
Dolores was born
on September 5, 1923, in Sheboygan, daughter of John B. & Estelle “Stella”
(Strauss) Schinabeck. Dolores
attended and graduated from Holy Name Grade School and Central High School in
Sheboygan, WI. On October 13, 1951 at
Holy Name Church in Sheboygan, Dolores married George Anthony Haen, a widower
with two small daughters Jessica and Francha.
Together during their 41-year marriage, George and Dolores had two
additional daughters: Mary Lou and
Jennifer. As a family, The Haen’s made
their home in Plymouth and then Kohler for nearly 50 years.
Dolores’ career spanned several decades of secretarial
service for Kohler Company, Kohler General, Curt Joa and Jim Smyth Realty. Dolores was a consummate volunteer; active as
a Kohler Girl Scout leader, member of the Kohler Women’s Club, officer and participant
within the ladies bowling and golf leagues for Kohler Company and Town &
Country Golf Course for decades. Since
1965, Dolores enjoyed spending summers at the family cottage at Cabot’s Cove in
Sturgeon Bay, WI. Dolores loved to learn
and travel, exploring destinations with friends and relatives throughout the
United States and around the world including Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Europe,
Australia and New Zealand.
Dolores was gifted in arts & crafts and enjoyed
quilting, crocheting, painting sewing; she loved a great book, doing crossword
puzzles, and playing games especially dominoes and bridge. Dolores loved watching and attending
Wisconsin sporting events that included the Badgers, Brewers, and Packers. Dolores was a life-long animal lover, adopting
and caring for several rescue dogs. Dolores was a loyal and long-time member of
St. John Evangelist Church in Kohler.
Dolores is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law:
Jessica (Donald) Klein of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Francha (Paul) Holberg of Puryear,
TN, Mary Lou (Jon Zoran) Haen of Sheboygan, WI, nieces, nephews, cousins,
grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends.
Dolores was proceeded in death by her parents, In-laws
Joseph & Margaret Haen of Sheboygan, youngest daughter Jennifer Ann Haen
(1987), husband George Anthony Haen (1992), brother & sister in-law,
Clarence and Dolores Schinabeck (2002/2003), and youngest brother John “Buddy”
Schinabeck (2012). Deceased brother & sister in-laws include: Alfred &
Marion Haen of West Bend, WI, Robert & Rosemary Hoffmann and Daniel &
Margaret Stieber of Sheboygan, WI. Leona
& Maynard Barteck of Arizona.
The family would like to thank the caregivers of Countryside
Manor and St. Nicholas Hospice program for their service this past month. To the staff & volunteers of The
Gathering Place & Memory Matters in Sheboygan Falls who facilitate day-time
activity programming for those suffering from Alzheimers and Dementia. The
volunteers from St. John Evangelist Church, family friends and neighbors who
helped care for Dolores, so she could remain at home and independent as long as
possible.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are being established in
Dolores’ name for The Gathering Place in Sheboygan Falls, Sheboygan County
Humane Society and St. John Evangelist Catholic Church, Kohler. Cards may be sent to the family c/o W1666

Please join the family in sharing memories of Dolores in a
celebration of life. Two visitations are planned: Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 5-7pm at Wenig
Funeral Home, 711 Broadway Street, Sheboygan Falls and on Monday, July 30,
2018, from 9am – 10:30 am at St. John Evangelist Church, 600 Green Tree Road,
Kohler. A funeral mass at St John’s will be at 10:30 am celebrated by Father Dennis
VanBeek. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Kohler.
