Elizabeth “Bette” A. Van Der Puy, age 85, of Sheboygan
passed away peacefully on July 23, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving
daughters and companion Lucy.
Bette was born in Sheboygan on March 30, 1933 to the late
Dr. William and Royalin (Hargesheimer) Esser. She attended local schools and
graduated from Central High School. On September 9, 1952 Bette married the love
of her life, William Van Der Puy. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1998.
Bette enjoyed volunteering her time within the community,
with Meals on Wheels, The Little Red School House and The Service Club. Bette
was also involved in The Big Brothers Big Sister Program. She was also active
within the YMCA, where she instilled her love of water and sports into her
children. She found great joy in water skiing in Eagle River with her family.
She was an avid golfer and was a member of Pine Hills Country Club. She was
very proud of being a part of the Hole in One Club.
Bette is survived by a son Nick Van Der Puy of Mellin; two
daughters, Liz (William) Schepp of Sheboygan and Amy (Todd) Schwoerer of
Estero, FL; grandchildren, Jake, Bart, Katie (Gale) Norton, Jack, Jennifer
(Kalen) Lind and Joseph (Rebecca DeCaro); great-grandchildren, Ashton, Brady,
Brecklyn, Aria and Sullivan and a dear friend of 71 years, Norma Beyer. Also
survived by nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Along with her husband, William, Bette was preceded in death
by a son John; a grandson Wade Schepp; a great-grandson Greyson Joseph
Schwoerer; a sister Barbara Scherer and a brother James Esser.
Following Bette’s wishes, a private family service will be
held at a later date. She will be laid to rest at Wildwood Cemetery.
The family suggests any memorials to be made in Bette’s name
to The Mental Health America in Sheboygan County.

Hospice for the wonderful care and support given to them during this time. They
would also like to thank Dr. Reenaben Patel for her kindness and the gentle
care she showed for mom.
