Florence LuVerne Moore (nee Erickson)
died on August 5, 2018 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin after a protracted illness. She
was born near Southey, Saskatechewan on September 27, 1927 to the late Emil and
Ellen Erickson.
She attended high school and
secretarial school in Regina and worked as a legal secretary. She also attended
a year of Bible study in Calgary, Alberta before doing her nurse’s training in
Regina, where she became a registered nurse.
She married Douglas Moore, an ordained
minister from Ottawa, Ontario, and together they served as missionaries in
Bolivia. After returning to Canada for a few years, they immigrated to the
United States in 1964, where she served as a minister’s wife and worked as an
RN at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital and later in Michigan up until her retirement
in 1990.
She spent 16 years in Florida where
she and Douglas lived happily among flowers and friends. Declining health took
them to Indiana and Wisconsin to be near family.
She loved music, especially hymns, and
often sang solos in church; she recited poetry by Longfellow and Yeats,
crocheted, taught Sunday School and baked delicious bread.
It must be said that her proudest
lifetime accomplishment was her six children; she was a devoted and loving
mother to them all.
She is survived by her six children,
Leslie Moore of Houston; Glenn Moore (Sylvia) of Elkhart Lake; Wayne Moore of
Sheboygan; Marilyn Holder (Bruce) of Upland; and Bonnie Moore of Grawn; six
nieces and nephews; and ten grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband,
Douglas Moore; sisters Helen Erickson; Shirley (Ira) Wiley; Della (Lloyd)
Rivett; brother-in-law Donald (Rae) Moore; one niece; and one grandchild.
A funeral service to celebrate
Florence’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 6:30pm at the

of fellowship and refreshments will take place at the church immediately
following the service. Burial will be at Jefferson Cemetery in Upland, IN.
Relatives and friends may greet the
family on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at the church from 5:30pm until the time of
