Alma Carrie Hoopman, 93, of Cedar Grove, passed away on Monday, August 13,
2018, at Cedar Grove Gardens.
Alma was born on May 21, 1925, in the Town of Holland, daughter of Henry and
Christina (Huenink) Stapelkamp. She was a 1943 graduate of Cedar Grove High School. On May 19, 1944, she
married Wilmer G. Hoopman in the Town of Holland. Wilmer passed away on
December 7, 2000.
Alma was a lifelong member of First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove and
enjoyed attending the Senior Citizen functions.. She enjoyed crocheting,
sewing, gardening, cooking, baking, canning, traveling, and camping. Wilmer and
Alma always looked forward to hosting family Thanksgiving and Christmas
celebrations.
Alma is survived by her two daughters, Mary (Richard) Navis of Cedar Grove
and Carol (Bruce) Strade of Hingham; her two sons, Ken (Jeanne) Hoopman of
Cedar Grove and Don (Khristen) Hoopman of Random Lake; nine grandchildren, Jill
Klos, Pamela (Michael) Deppiesse, Sherri (John) Morgan, Aaron (Natalie) Strade,
Chelle (Patrick) Notz, Chad (Jackie) Hoopman, Kari (Peter) Heimerman, Courtney
(Bill) Deemer,and Darren Hoopman; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley
Kurth of Boltonville; and one sister-in-law, Verna Hoopman of Sheboygan.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer; a grandson, Calvin
Hoopman; two infant great-grandchildren, Gina Deppiesse and Brayden Morgan, her
sister, Jean (Earl) Heidemann, her brother, Herbert (Adeline) Stapelkamp; and
her brother-in-law, Ralph Kurth.
Funeral services to celebrate Alma’s life will be held at 11:00 am on
Thursday, August 16, 2018, at First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove with Revs.
Chris Schaefer and Wayne Tripp officiating. Burial will take place at Cedar
Grove Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may gather at the church on Thursday from 9:00 am
until the time of the service at 11:00 am.
A memorial fund has been established in Alma’s name for Compassus Hospice.
