Gail Versch,
age 79, of Plymouth, passed away early
Sunday morning September 2, 2018 at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center where she
had resided since January of this year.
Gail was
born on August 29, 1939. She was the only child of Ben and Lorraine (Gessert)
Cole.
She attended
Elementary and High School in Plymouth.
In 1955,
Gail met her best friend and the love her life Albert (Willie) Versch. Gail and
Willie were married on October 11, 1955 in Plymouth.
In addition
to caring for her family Gail spent her time doing things she loved, baking,
crocheting, reading and gardening. Sports were a big part of her life, she enjoyed
watching football, baseball, golf and the Olympics. She was a die-hard Packer
fan.
She is a
past member of the VFW Post 5612 Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society. In her
younger years she belonged to Pool, Golf and Bowling Leagues.
Over the
years she and Willie also enjoyed many fun times with their close friends in
“The Old Farts” group.
In 1982 she
and Willie started “G&W Ceramics”, Gail had found her niche. She was a
gifted painter and enjoyed sharing her talents by teaching ceramics classes in
her home for over 25 years.
The many
beautiful ceramic pieces that she gifted to family and friends are cherished keepsakes.
Now a bit of Gail will still be with them during the holidays. Those who knew
her know how much she loved to decorate both inside and outside of her home for
all the seasons.
Gail had worked at the polls for the Plymouth
elections and at Pick and Save in Plymouth.
Gail is survived
by: Her husband of 62 years: Albert (Willie) Versch; Son: Jeff (Gina) Versch; Daughter:
Starr (Dave) Boldt; Her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, Eric (Lauren)
Versch, Emma, Ava, and William, Paul (Jenna) Versch, Charlotte and Corbin,
Joshua (Tracy) Boldt, Amber, Kaden and Hailey, Zachary (Cassidy) Boldt, Daisy
and Hope. She is further survived by Brother-in-law: Jesse (Malinda) Versch and their family; and Cousin:
Vernon (Kay) Pinter.
Gail was
preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws: Wilmer and Natalie Versch.
Funeral Services
will be held on Thursday (September 6, 2018) at the Suchon Funeral Home in
Plymouth. Visitation will take place
from 4:30 – 6:30 P.M. with a prayer service to follow at 6:30 P.M. Father Wayne Bittner will officiate.
In lieu of
flowers a memorial fund is being established in Gail’s name.
The family
would like to send a special thank you to the caring staff at Rocky Knoll
Health Care Facility and Sharon S Richardson Community Hospice for the
wonderful care and compassion given to Gail.
