Betty Della
Bertha Blech (Bruss), age 73, of Plymouth, WI went HOME to be with her loving
Savior early Saturday morning (September 15
th
, 2018) at Froedtert
Hospital in Milwaukee, WI.
She was born
on February 15
th
, 1945 in Plymouth, WI, the middle daughter of the
late Walter and Hulda (Thurow) Bruss.
She was made a child of God through Holy Baptism in 1945 at home. She confirmed her Lutheran faith in 1959 at
St. John Lutheran Church, Plymouth, WI.
Betty attended
and graduated from Plymouth Comprehensive High School in May of 1963. She continued her education at Concordia
University- River Forest, Illinois, where she met her future husband.
On April 18
th
,
1965, she married the late Rev. Randolf Blech at St. John Lutheran Church in
Plymouth, WI.
Betty served
the Lord as a Lutheran grade school teacher in Plymouth, WI; Horicon, WI; and
West Bloomfield, WI. Later in life, she
was employed at Walmart in Plymouth, WI as a greeter.
On February 2
nd
,
1983 Betty and Randolf adopted their first daughter, Kristiana Elizabeth
Yeo-Sun Blech (born October 7
th
, 1982) from Taegu, South Korea. In April of 1985, they expanded the family
with the adoption of their second daughter, Rebecca Helena Ae-Soon Blech (born
October 22, 1984) from Pusan, South Korea.
Throughout
the years, Betty was active in her church serving on Alter Guild, choir, Ladies
Aid, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), Sunday school teacher, and
Lutheran school’s Parent-Teacher Organization.
She also served in various offices of the local AAL (now known as
Thrivent) branch in West Bloomfield, WI.
She was involved in many activities within her local 4-H club, Blooms of
Shara, with her children. She served as
supervisor in the cultural arts building of the Waushara County Fair for many
years as her children were actively involved in 4-H.
Betty enjoyed
traveling- especially family vacations; camping; gardening; reading; being
outside- listening to the birds, walks with the family dog; family gatherings;
spending time with her three grandchildren; “I Love Lucy”; “Little House on the
Prairie”; “Murder She Wrote”; and collecting music boxes. She was fond of animals, especially all of
the family dogs, cats, and rabbits, throughout the years.
Betty is
survived by two daughters Kristiana Blech (fiancée Jim Wiroll) of Plymouth, WI
and Becky (Matthew) NeSmith of Mequon, WI; two sisters Pearl Fischer of
Plymouth, WI and Elaine (Brent) Halverson of Sheboygan Falls, WI; a
brother-in-law Brian Blech of Texas; three grandchildren Ella, Eva, and Camden
NeSmith all of Mequon, WI. She is
survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded
in death by her husband of 51 years, Rev. Randolf Blech; her parents; and a
brother-in-law, James Fischer.
Funeral
Services will be held on Saturday (September 22, 2018) at 11:00 A.M. at St.
John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. Rev. John Schultz, Pastor of the church will
officiate. Burial will be in the Kasson-Evergreen Cemetery in the Town of Maple
Grove, WI.
Friends may
call at the CHURCH on Saturday (Sept. 22) from 9:30 A.M. until time of
Services.
