Helen Elizabeth Graven, 95, of
Oostburg, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Pine Haven Christian
Home in Oostburg.
Helen was born on February 8,
1923, in Cedar Grove to Henry and Carrie (Ten Dollen) Huibregtse. She was a
graduate of Cedar Grove High School. On
May 11, 1946, Helen married Winson Graven in Cedar Grove. He preceded her in
death on September 9, 1998. Helen was employed at Colonial Manor in Glendale
for 19 years as a Nurse until her retirement in 1997.
Helen was a charter member of
Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove, where she served as choir
director for many years, and was also director of Sweet Adelines. She enjoyed music,
playing the piano, gardening, sewing, reading, and traveling.
Helen is survived by her two
daughters, Peggy (Terry) Lemkuil of Oostburg, and Patti Dockendorff of La
Crescent, MN; two sons, James (Joan) Graven of Random Lake, and Dennis (Diane)
Graven of Brillion; eight grandchildren, Kathleen (Mike) Frost, Donald (Julie)
Graven, Peter (Laura) Graven, Anne (RJ) Pirlot, Joseph (Nikki) Dockendorff,
Jenny Dockendorf, Stephanie Lemkuil, and Benjamin Lemkuil; 8 great
grandchildren; one sister, Ethel DuMez of Cedar Grove; one brother, Ronald Huibregtse of Arkansas; and one
sister-in-law, Gladys Wisse of Cedar Grove. She is further survived by nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by
her parents; husband, Winson Graven; sister, Margie (Warren) Neerhof; two brothers,
Robert Huibregtse, and Erwin (Margaret) Huibregtse; one sister-in-law, Sue
Huibregtse; and two brothers-in-law, Joe Wisse and Carl DuMez.
A funeral service to celebrate
Helen's life will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at 2 pm at Calvary
Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove with Rev. David Cornette
officiating. A burial will take place at Presbyterian Cemetery in Cedar Grove.
Relatives and friends may greet
the family at the CHURCH on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 12 pm until the
time of service at 2 pm.
A memorial fund is being established
in her name for Calvary OPC and Pine Haven Christian Communities.
