Grace L. Mueller, 85, of Sheboygan, died suddenly on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Aurora Sheboygan
Memorial Medical Center. She born February 24, 1933 in Maywood, IL to her parents Henry and Esther
(Kolb) Knueppel.
Grace was an RN, receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Illinois. She worked
for many years at the Visiting Nurses Association and retired as a Sheboygan County Public Health
Nurse.
Grace was a member of First United Lutheran Church, the Town and Country Garden Club, AAUW, a
bridge club, a spinning group, and more. She was involved with BookWorm Gardens, the John Michael
Kohler Arts Center, and was a Master Gardener. She sang in choral groups throughout her life, most
recently in her church choir, caroling, and the Sheboygan Symphony Chorus. Always active and
adventurous, Grace enjoyed world travel, biking, kayaking, skiing, tennis, running, and exploring the
outdoors. She was also humble and didn’t want any of this in an obituary. She said, anyone who knows
me already knows all that, why put it in the paper.
She is survived by children Jeffrey (Zhanna) Mueller, Kathy (Jim) Hartmann, and Sara Grace;
grandchildren Dinara and Ryan Mueller, Nic (Laura Feyereisen) Hartmann, and Emily (Marshall)
Hartmann; great-granddaughter Rosalie Grace Hartmann; brother Henry “Bud” (Judy) Knueppel and
sister-in-law Patricia Knueppel, and Socks (her latest Humane Society cat.) Further survived by nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceded in death by parents Henry and Esther, brother Howard
Knueppel and sister Phyllis (Jerry) Seevers.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 6:00PM at First United Lutheran Church
located at 2401 Koehler Memorial Dr., led by her pastor Todd Smith. Relatives and friends may visit with
the family from 4:00PM until the time of the service at First United.
Special thanks to Dr. Phelan and all the staff in the ER and on 3K/ICU at Sheboygan Memorial for their all
their efforts and loving support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to BookWorm Gardens in Grace’s name.
