On November 3, 2018, Doyn Marcus Grill, precious love of Mary, went to live with his gracious Lord. His
pain is gone, he’s been set free!
Doyn was born on May 2, 1942, to Floyd and Bernadine Grill in Hillsdale, Michigan. His parents and his
sister, Sue, preceded him in death.
On February 20, 1966, Doyn and Mary (Melville) were joined together to live and love for over 52 years.
God Blessed them with two exceptional children and their spouses, Kimberly Wilson (Kenneth), Delaware,
and Daniel Grill (Becky), Kentucky. They also have two special grandchildren, Cody Grill and his fiancé
(Dominique Simon), Iowa, and PFC Nadia Jones, US Army, Georgia, and three great grandchildren. Also
survived by his nephew, Fred Hicks, and niece Renee Langhann.
Doyn’s strong work ethic started at age 13 when he began working in his father’s hardware store. After
graduating from high school in Jonesville, Michigan, he proudly joined the US Army and was stationed in
Alaska. After his discharge, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree from Ferris State University
in Big Rapids, Michigan. The family relocated to Wisconsin, where he worked at F.W. Woolworth’s Central
Accounting Office 23 years until his retirement.
Next, Doyn became the Grounds Keeper at Aldrich Chemical, fulfilling his retirement wish list to mow and
plow with big equipment, drive tractors, work outdoors, and do odd jobs. He retired from Aldrich after 8
years, moving on to his next job as an airport shuttle driver for Go Riteway for 15 years before retiring in
June 2018.
As avid bicyclers for 15 years, they saw many parts of Wisconsin the slow way! When that became too
challenging, they switched to mopeds and continued exploring. They had the opportunity to visit many
places across this great country Doyn dearly loved and served, including 49 states.
Doyn proudly served the Lord in Gibbsville Reformed Church in a variety of ways. His love for the Lord kept
growing and was contagious. He also loved attending Bible Study at Campus Life and served there as well.
Doyn served as Treasurer for the Village of Oostburg and on the Village Board as well as on the Pine Haven
Board of Directors.
Doyn’s biggest wish was to leave the hospital and “pay it forward” as thanks to the many people who
helped during his illness. As he wasn’t able to fulfill this wish, we ask that you consider doing a random act
of kindness in his memory.
Relatives and friends can celebrate Doyn’s life with the family at Gibbsville Reformed Church on Friday,
November 9, 2018 at 10:30am with Rev. David Krueger officiating.
Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Gibbsville Reformed Church
from 4-8pm and again on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 9:30am until the time of service at 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gibbsville Reformed Church, N3145 State Road 32, Sheboygan
Falls, WI 53085 or Campus Life, 6426 South Business Dr., Sheboygan, WI 53081.
