Jerome “Jerry” Francis Bowser, age 90, of Sheboygan, died on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Meadow View Manor. He was born in Sheboygan on May 22, 1928, the son of the late Matthew and Mae Hill Bowser Merrill.
Jerry attended local schools and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1946. On June 24, 1950, he was united in marriage to Rita Schoemer. She preceded him in death in May of 2000. Jerry was employed at the Kohler Company for over forty years, until his retirement in early 1990’s.
He was a current member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church and was a previous member of the church choir and helped at the Friday fish frys. Jerry was also a member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed woodworking and family gatherings. Jerry had a great sense of humor and will always be known as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa.
Survivors include his nine children, Michael (Deborah) Bowser, Jerome (Jill) Bowser, Stephen (Mary) Bowser, all of Sheboygan, Brian (Susan) Bowser, of Wauwatosa, Mary (Steve) Rautmann, of Sheboygan, Anne (Andre’) Lovato, of Waukesha, Susan (Jack) Taubenheim, of Kohler, Elizabeth (David) Glander, of Sheboygan and Laura (Brian) Szyszko, of Milwaukee; sixteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, two brothers, John “Jack” (Laverne) Bowser, Robert (Dorothy) Bowser and his sister, Margie Kuehl, all of Sheboygan. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends. Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, Matthew, James and Jerry’s twin, Joseph, a sister, Patricia Gibson, step-father, Ted Merrill, two sisters-in-law, Marie and Marian Bowser and brothers-in-law, Jerry Gibson and Sylvester Kuehl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1439 S. 12
th
St., Sheboygan with Rev. Richard Cerpich officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 12:00 p.m. Entombment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Jerry’s name and may be directed to either St. Peter Claver Catholic Church or the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. A special thanks to the staff at Meadow View Manor and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their loving care of Jerry.
