Ruth E. Lilge, age 95, of Sheboygan passed away Friday evening
December 7, 2018 at The Waterford of Plymouth.
Ruth was born November 14, 1923 in Sheboygan, the daughter of the late
Ferninand and Wilhelmina Voelker. She attended local area schools and
graduated from North High School in 1942.
On June 9, 1945 she was united in marriage to John A. Lilge at St. Johns
Ev. and Ref. Church, Sheboygan. John preceded her in death on January
28, 1994.
For many years Ruth worked at the original Sheboygan McDonalds. She
continued her employment with Wigwam Mills until her retirement. Ruth
took such joy in sharing her knitting, crocheting and quilting projects with
family, friends and numerous charities. Her homemade baked goods
brought smiles to many.
Ruth is survived by three children; Bruce (Hope Baken) Lilge, Mark
(Suzanne Meves) Lilge and Karen (Arthur) Burgard all of Sheboygan, five
grandchildren; Kenneth (Rachel) Lilge, Tiffany (William Frahm II) Lilge-
Schwoerer, Courtney (Trevor) Sullivan, Kyle Burgard, Cody Lilge and
sister-in-law Gertrude Lilge. She is further survived by many nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers
Raymond (Marie) Voelker, Elmer (Viola) Voelker, and a sister Edna
Voelker; sisters and brothers in-law Robert (Bernice) Reinecke, Romaine
(Elaine) Curtiss, Carl Lilge and two daughter-in-laws Michele Lilge and
Suzanne Lilge. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, William
Jonathan Lilge.
A funeral service for Ruth will be held at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 11,
2018 at St. Johns United Church of Christ, 1248 Lincoln Avenue,
Sheboygan. The Rev. Greg Whelton will officiate. A time of visitation and
support will be held from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service. Private
interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions to The
Gathering Place c/o St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sheboygan Falls.
Ruth’s family would like to thank the compassionate staff of The Waterford
of Plymouth, Embrace Care Management, The Gathering Place and
Compassus Hospice & Palliative Care. Your wonderful care and friendship
given to Ruth is a testament of your missions.
