Martha “Diane” H. Gueldenzopf, age 88, of Sheboygan went to her eternal home Saturday, December 8,
2018.
She was born in Madison on November 15, 1930 to the late Otto and Seraphina Henning. She attended
local schools in Madison, moved with her family to Hayward, WI and she graduated from Hayward High
School in 1948.
Diane met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Gueldenzopf while a car hop at Joe’s Drive In, Madison, WI.
They wed on August 19, 1950 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Madison. They were married for 63 years
when he preceded her in death on April 17, 2014.
Diane was a very active member of First United Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. She was a Sunday School
teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, a member of the choir, church council representative and served
on numerous committees. Diane also participated in the Women of the ELCA where she held leadership
positions and trained women for leadership roles throughout Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. Diane was
a member of the Jaycettes, Elks Club and the Sheboygan County Quilt Guild. She took pride in sewing
clothes for her grandchildren, as well as making quilts for her family.
Martha is survived by three sons, Allen (Audrey) of New City, NY, Stanley (Susan) of Denver, CO and Dale
(Kathy) of Sheboygan; grandchildren, Lisa (Fiancé Alex), Ethan, Samantha (Daniel) Brunson, Kristin
(Christopher) Menart and Geoffrey (Fiancé Courtney); great grandchildren William and Nathan Brunson,
and a sister Sarah Winch.
A Memorial Service for Diane will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at First United
Lutheran Church, 2401 Kohler Memorial Dr. in Sheboygan, with Rev. Todd Smith officiating. The family
will greet visitors at the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Inurnment will
take place in The Garden of Peace at First United Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials are made in Diane’s name to either First United Lutheran
Church or Prairie Crossing of Pine Haven.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Prairie Crossing Apartments of Pine Haven in Sheboygan
Falls. They would also like to thank the many friends, family and caregivers who have supported Diane.
