Daniel C. Granacker, 86, of Sheboygan, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 at his home
surrounded by his loving family. Dan was born July 14, 1932 in Hillsdale, NY to Raymond and Alice
(Reynolds) Granacker. He attended Roe Jan Central School in Hillsdale, NY. He then went on to attend
New York State Technical College in Morrisville, NY. After college he proudly served in the US Army for 2
years, serving 16 months in Korea and trained at Camp Haven in Haven, WI, where he flew radio-
controlled air targets. He earned the rank of Specialist 4 th Class. After serving his 2 years, he continued
to serve in the Army Reserves for 6 years.
Following his time in the Army, he moved back to New York for the next 22 years where he worked in
construction and was a General Contractor. Before and after he left for the Army, Dan served for 26
years as a volunteer Fireman earning the rank of Lieutenant.
On December 17, 1955 he was united in marriage to Mary U. Krainz, she preceded him in death in 2002.
On October 15, 2004 he was united in marriage to Mary A. Nisporic Voland.
Coming back to Wisconsin he worked for 9 years at Kohler and then continued in construction until his
retirement in 1997. Following his retirement, he lived and served on committees in the Town of
Sheboygan, Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals, Tax Review Board and the Firehouse Committee.
Dan joined the Evangelical Free Church and served as a greeter, loving that role he also served where
ever there was a need. Dan and Mary A. loved to travel.
Dan is survived by his wife of 14 ½ years Mary, son John (fiancée Nadine Becker) Granacker, step-
daughters; Christine (Vincent) Burri, Tracy (Scott) Vassen, and Trisha (Ryan) Spettle, grandchildren;
James (fiancée Amber Ellis) Granacker, Keith Wagner, Christopher Miller, Andrew Creager, Victoria
(fiancé Steve Robert) Burri, Vanessa Burri, and Haily Spettle all of Sheboygan, brother Richard (MaryAnn)
Granacker of Connecticut, sister Carol (Dr. Marvin) Marx of Pennsylvania, brother-in-law, Robert Smith
of New Jersey, his family through marriage; Rose Diener, Michael Nisporic, Debbie (Dennis) Diener, Dave
(Yvonne) Nisporic and William (Juli) Nisporic, his Wonderful Life Group of 15 years, many friends at
Evangelical Free Church, “Pioneer Park” for 11 years at Lake Delton, “Water Oak” friends of 5 years in
Lady Lake, FL, and he is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was
preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Clara Smith.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 6:00 PM at Zimmer Westview Funeral
& Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton Rd., Sheboygan, with Dr. Gary Hylander and Pastor Jon Mac
Donald officiating. Burial will take place at Greendale Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the
family from 3:00 PM until the time of service at the FUNERAL HOME.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Evangelical Free Church Building Fund in Dan’s name.

God saw you getting tired. The cure was not to be, He wrapped you in His loving Arms and whispered
“Come with Me.” You suffered much in silence. Your spirit did not bend. You faced your pain with
courage, until the very end. You tried so hard to stay with us Your fight was not in vain, God took you to
His loving Home and freed you from your pain, a golden heart stopped beating, two working hands at
rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST.
