Joanne Margaret Harry, age 86, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family
on Friday (December 21, 2018) at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls, where she had been a
resident for the last 3 years.
She was born on November 16, 1932 in Deerbrook, WI, daughter of the late Rev. Martin and Lenora
(Gutekunst) Schneider.
With her father being a Pastor, the family moved around to different cities. Joanne attended grade
schools in Deerbrook and Shawano, and graduated from Hilbert High School.
Her dream had always been to become a nurse, so following high school Joanne attended the Bellin
School of Nursing in Green Bay, graduating in 1953.
She worked her entire career at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital. She started in 1954 as a surgical nurse,
and in the 1970s she became a supervisor of the night shift until her retirement in 1992.
In 1954 she met the love of her life, Robert L. Harry, and the couple was married by Joanne’s father on
June 19, 1955 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Hilbert. Bob preceded her in death on December 10,
2009.
Joanne was always involved in her children’s activities. She and Bob were very involved with the youth
marching group “The Accents,” which all of their children participated in. They travelled coast to coast
to compete in parades and drill competitions.
In her retirement, she enjoyed taking the motorhome to Bentsen Grove Resort in Mission, TX with Bob’s
brother and his wife. She also enjoyed sewing and stitchery, singing and playing piano, collecting
roosters, and attending her grandchildren’s concerts and sporting events.
Joanne is survived by her four children; Lois (Mike) McHenry of Random Lake, Robert II “Chip” (Debbie)
Harry of Sheboygan, Barb (Craig) Momberg of Hingham, and Janet (Steve) Kramer of Sheboygan Falls;
son-in-law, Jack Lippold (Sandy) of Jackson, WI; Seven grandchildren; Robert III “BJ” (Heidi) Harry of
Random Lake, Sarah Schroeder (friend Darius Davis) of Sheboygan, Emilee (Jake) Schultz of Sheboygan,
Stacee (Ben) Steiner of Port Washington, Chelsea (Matthew) Williams of Lacombe, Alberta, Canada,
Mike Schroeder (friend Alyssa Hobart) of Sheboygan, and Kaylyn Fischer (fiancé Nicholas Patton) of
Luxemburg, WI; Four great-grandchildren; Olivia and Greyson Harry and Baby Schultz and Baby Steiner .
She is further survived by her brother; James Schneider of Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law; Laura
Schneider of Alabama; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Joanne was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents, her daughter Cathy Lippold, a brother
John Schneider as well as several brothers-in-law and and sisters-in-law.
Memorial Services will be held on Sunday (January 6, 2019) at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth.
Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, with a Service to follow at 1:00 P.M. Chaplain
Kimberly Thimmig will officiate. Inurnment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Joanne’s name for the Pine Haven Life Enrichment Fund.
