Kathleen A. “Kathy” Gillis, age 68, of Plymouth, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday (December 29,
2018) at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls with her two daughters by her side.
She was born on October 19, 1950 in Appleton, WI, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Ruth (Salava) Van
Dyke.
Kathy attended Sacred Heart Catholic Grade School and graduated from Xavier High School in 1968.
After High School she attended Fox Valley Technical College.
She married Dennis Vorpahl in 1985 at The Red Mill in Waupaca, WI.
Kathy worked at Executive Travel for many years before she retired this past year.
In 2010, Kathy met her loving companion George. On June 25, 2011, she married George Gillis at the
home of Diana Roberts. The couple resided in Plymouth after their marriage and made Plymouth their
home. They cherished each other’s love and stuck together through sickness and health. George
preceded her in death on June 16, 2018.
She was a member at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth, Kiwanis International, and Key Club.
She enjoyed volunteer work, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include: Two daughters: Karen (Bret) Pemble, Vickie (Carl) Woods, Two step daughters Erin
Huettl, Renee (Mike) Peterson; Nine grandchildren: Kendra (Patrick) Lukaszewski, Austin Johnson, Bri
Pemble, Brady Pemble, Hunter Huettl, Chase Huettl, Alex Vorpahl, Chloe Peterson, and Jake Peterson;
Sister: Mary (Rick) Duba; Brother: Dave (Emily) Van Dyke; Her uncle: Roger (Audrey) Salava; Aunts:
Rosita Spierings and Carol Neuhouse; and Her dear friend: Dawn Seifert.
She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, other relatives and many
friends, including her Kiwanis and Key Club friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, George, and granddaughter, Kylie Johnson.
Following Kathy’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
Memorial Services will take place on Friday (January 4, 2018) at 6:00 P.M. at St. John Lutheran Church
in Plymouth. Rev. Nathan Meador, Pastor of the Church will officiate.
Visitation will take place at CHURCH on Friday (Jan. 4) from 5:00 P.M. until time of Services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Kathy’s name.
