Karl Heichler, age 86, of Adell, passed away peacefully at home on June 8, 2019, surrounded by his
family that loved him dearly.
He was born on May 6, 1933 in Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) Czech Republic, son of the late Andreas and
Barbara (Zillich) Heichler.
Karl came to the U.S. on May 6, 1952, at the age of 19. He arrived on the R.M. Blatchford to Ellis Island.
After arrival, he served in the Korean War from 1953-1955 in the United States Army. He married and
had his first daughter, Linda Heichler.
After his service in the Korean War, he worked at Continental Can in Milwaukee from 1955 – 1988.
Following retirement, he worked side jobs to keep himself busy.
On January 7, 1967, he married Katherine (Abadie) Heichler in Chicago, IL. Together they had three
beautiful children: Christine, Michelle, and Erika Heichler. Karl and Katherine, with their children,
moved to Adell on June 1, 1980. Since then, they’ve resided on the Heichler Family Farm.
Karl attended the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight on May 3, 2014. It was the best trip he experienced as a
veteran. His favorite memory was visiting the Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C.
He lived a long life and made the most of it by doing what he enjoyed. His hobbies included: traveling,
woodworking, chainsaw sharpening, taking care of the animals they raised, but most of all he loved
spending time with his family and friends. He was so caring, good-hearted, funny, tough, and always the
life of the party! He wished nothing but the best for the people he cared about most.
