Lucille J. Weavers, of Oostburg, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023, at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls. She was 97 years old.
Lucille was born June 26, 1925, in Sheboygan, the daughter of Harvey and Irene Knaak. She grew up in Sheboygan, graduating from Sheboygan High School in 1942.
On November 24, 1945, she was united in marriage with Donald Weavers in Sheboygan. He preceded her in death in 1996.
For many years, she farmed with Donald in the town of Lima. In 1970, they moved to the village of Oostburg. Lucille worked at Evans in Sheboygan Falls and later worked as a teacher’s aide at Oostburg High School for 12 years, retiring in 1985.
Lucille was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church in Oostburg, where she had been a member of the Women’s Society. She enjoyed traveling, collecting cups and saucers, knitting, reading, playing cards, gardening, and cats. Lucille loved lunches shared with family and friends, and a good Manhattan.
She is survived by her children: Sue (Lee) Glomski of Sheboygan Falls and Steve (Jane) Weavers of Oostburg; grandchildren: Matthew (Tammy), Curtis, Eric, Michael (Beth) Gabrielse, Kimberly (Tom) Brill and Christopher (Tabitha) Weavers; step-grandchildren: Ginger (Jarrod) Schroeder and Andy Glomski; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-granddaughter; brother-in-law Sam Brill of Oostburg; other relatives and friends.
Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, son-in-law James Gabrielse, brother William (Delores) Knaak, siblings-in-law, and dear friend Willis Veldboom.
Funeral Services celebrating Lucille’s life will be held at Wenig Funeral Home, 108 Center Ave. in Oostburg on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 12:00pm. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday, from 11:00am until the time of service.
She will be laid to rest at Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan beside Donald.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to 1st Presbyterian Church in Oostburg.
