The Sheboygan Area School District’s Board of Education 2023-24 session began last night, installing one new member and welcoming back two that won posts during the spring election.
Heidi Boehmer, who replaced David Gallianetti, along with Kay Robbins and Sarah Ruiz-Harrison, who were reelected, were sworn in for new terms and promptly participated in another election – that of the officers.
There was no change in the leadership of the Board, as Mary Lynn Donohue was reappointed as President, Santino Laster continues his role as Vice President, Kay Robbins was elected Treasurer and Sue Hein took the only contested seat of Clerk by winning over Ryan Burg.
After the reorganization meeting the regular session was mostly standard business with several speaking their concerns on Human Growth and Development issues during the public input session. But it was North High Student Representative Emily Kolb who provided what may have been the best news of the night, as she reported that the 14-year-old North High School student who had to be revived with CPR and then hospitalized after nearly drowning two weeks ago was back in class this week.
