STEVENS POINT, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — A man who shot at Stevens Point police may spend over a century in prison.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice says Nicholas Meyer was in the garage of a Stevens Point home in the early morning hours of April 7.
When police checked into the report of a suspicious person outside the home, an officer told Meyer to exit the garage.
That led Meyer to allegedly fire his gun. Officers returned fire and struck Meyer, who was hospitalized after receiving a gunshot wound to the torso.
Meyer said in an interview he believed he was in a “kill or be killed” situation, though none of the officers pointed their weapons at him before he fired at them.
No law enforcement officers were injured in the incident.
