WINNEBAGO COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — The Wisconsin Department of Justice reports a ‘scary and alarming trend’ in fentanyl seizures.
Jeremiah Winscher of the Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group says that so far in 2023, they’ve seen 360% more fentanyl seizures than in the entire year of 2021.
“It is an absolute threat to our communities.” said Winscher. “And we need to make sure that we’re doing what we can to take care of our communities, and provide our citizens throughout the entire state of Wisconsin information that they need in order to protect their families and take care of their children.””
The Department of Justice is requesting 19 new agents in the next state budget to address a wide-array of issues including drug cases.
