A Town of Newton man was arrested for his sixth Operating While Intoxicated offense by Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Deputies.
Monday’s incident began early in the morning when a Deputy observed a car northbound on State Highway 42 in the Town of Newton, missing a front license plate and with what appeared to be fresh front-end damage. The car abruptly turned onto Pine River Road north of Osman, accelerated rapidly and crossed the centerline. The Deputy attempted to stop the car when it increased speed in an attempt to flee.
During the ensuing chase, the car varied in speed between 30 and 70 miles an hour while crossing over the centerline. After covering around 5 miles on several town roads, the pursuit ended when deputies conducted a PIT maneuver on English Lake Road. No injuries resulted, but both the suspect vehicle and the squad received minor damage.
The 45-year-old driver, identified as Jason Sieracki of the Town of Newton, was taken into custody without incident and is being held on $3,000 cash bail at the Manitowoc County Jail on charges of Felony Fleeing and Eluding, Resisting and Obstructing an Officer, and for his sixth offense of Operating While Intoxicated.
Sheriff Dan Hartwig reacted to Sieracki’s arrest by stating that it was “Another clear example of someone who should not be on our roads. This is the sixth time being arrested for drunk driving, and his actions continue to put our citizens at risk. I applaud my deputies for getting this dangerous intoxicated driver off our streets.”
