Arlene V. Schmidt, 93, of the Town of Mitchell, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Arlene was born on September 9, 1929, to Phillip and Capitola (Beck) Erber in the Town of Farmington. She attended grade school in Fillmore and graduated from West Bend High School in June 1947.
Arlene was united in marriage to Allen Schmidt on May 22, 1948, at St. Martins Evangelical Church in Fillmore, WI. He preceded her in death in 2014.
Arlene was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, quilting, and reading. Arlene also loved playing cards, bingo, and was an avid Brewer, Cubs, and Bucks fan. She enjoyed spending time with family and attending her grandchildren’s activities.
Arlene is survived by her children: Dian Diener of Plymouth, Wayne (LuAnn) Schmidt of Plymouth, Lynn (Mike) Niver of Hubertus, Dawn (John) Spring of Plymouth, Joy (Brian) Thompson of Rogers, MN, Kay (Tom) Hanson of Plymouth, Neal (Dianne) Schmidt of the Town of Mitchell; 21 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother-in-law, Donald Neumann; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; son-in-law, Curt Diener; great-granddaughter, Abigail Dvorachek; great-grandsons, Kordell Dvorachek and Raylen Roethke; sister, Lois Neumann; brother, Willis (Dorothy) Erber; brother-in-law, Kenneth Braatz; sister-in-law, Sylvia Braatz.
A funeral service to celebrate Arlene’s life will be held at St. John Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 11:00am. She will be laid to rest at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at church from 9:00am until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in Arlene’s name.
