WISCONSIN (WTAQ-WRN) — The competency of a Neenah man accused of killing a Milwaukee transgender woman will be evaluated.
On Sunday, a court ordered a competency examination for 33-year-old Cordell Howze, who faces several charges in the death of Cashay Henderson, who was found by firefighters with a gunshot wound after putting out a blaze in her apartment.
Howze was previously sentenced in October 2021 to serve 18 months in prison and two years of extended supervision.
Court records show after Howze was released from prison in December 2022, he was then arrested in January 2023 in connection with a Winnebago County pursuit, and was released from the Winnebago County Jail four days before the body of Henderson was found.
