Sheboygan County is likely to have a new County Administrator after tonight’s County Board meeting. The County Board began a search for a new executive after Governor Tony Evers chose Adam Payne as his new Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources in December, and the Board has recruited from within the current staff.
In its agenda the Executive and Human Resources Committees propose to appoint Alayne Krause to take the post. Krause began serving Sheboygan County in 2014 as an Administrative Coordinator in the Planning and Conservation Department, and became the Executive Assistant to then-County Administrator Adam Payne in 2016. She has served as Deputy County Administrator since September of 2020.
If a majority of the Board approves and then votes in the affirmative, Krause will then be able to drop “Deputy” from her title and become the first female administrator to lead Sheboygan County.
