Sheboygan Police Department
The man who fled during a traffic stop by Sheboygan Police on Tuesday, ending in a three-vehicle crash, is allegedly connected to a fatal shooting in Appleton.
The Sheboygan Police Department identified that person as 37-year-old Yia Lor, who is believed to have information about the January 22nd murder of 56-year-old Paul A. Rhoads of Appleton. Rhoads was found bleeding from a gunshot wound on the 1200 block of North Briarcliff Drive in Appleton and was treated at the scene, transported to an area hospital, but eventually succumbed to his wounds.
Lor sustained life-threatening injuries after he jumped into the driver’s seat during a traffic stop on Tuesday at 13th and North Avenue and fled police, blowing a stop sign at 10th and Geele Avenue, striking a car in the intersection, sending that into a third car, and had to be removed by Sheboygan Fire Department crews from wreckage. The second driver sustained serious injuries and also had to be extracted, while the third driver was not injured. Lor, meanwhile, struck one house on 10th Street before coming to rest on a second home. He is now reported to be in stable condition.
The Appleton Police Department considers Lor a “person of interest” and the investigation into the death of Paul Rhoads continues.
