Michael William Cesar, 66, caring husband, father and grandfather, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at his home with his family by his side.
Born May 10, 1956, in Sheboygan, Michael was a son of the late Joseph and Jacqueline Maas Cesar. He attended Holy Name of Jesus School and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1974. He was united in marriage to Denise Zimmerman on April 15, 1994 in Sheboygan.
Michael was an architectural woodworker, working until his retirement at ConceptWorks, formerly Sheboygan County Woodworking. His lifelong passion was working on custom woodworking projects. He was very proud of his homes, meticulously remodeling and maintaining every one. He built beautiful furniture with his incredible eye for detail. Michael was a lifelong learner, always reading about history and current events. He loved to travel with Denise, especially to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and to places in the Midwest. He enjoyed spending time with his dog, Lia, taking walks daily. Michael had an incredible sense of humor, always joking and keeping things light.
He is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Denise; his sons, Kevin and Troy (Sarah) Cesar, both of Sheboygan; his grandson, Emile Cesar; his sisters-in-law, Debbie (Joe) Garski and Dawn Race; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is further survived by his former wife, Diane (Timothy) Marmes.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, David and Stephen and sister, Victoria Schauer.
Funeral services for Michael will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2023 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name for the Salvation Army.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Sheboygan Aurora Hospital, St. Lukeโs Hospital and the nurses and staff of the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support. Also, a very special thank you to Diane Marmes for all of her support, compassion and caregiving during the last weeks of Michaelโs life.
